Winner of the NFTVM-Award, best director!. In October 2009 te be seen at the Taiwan Disability Film Festival.

At the Birds-Eye-View Filmfestival in London 2007 We're normally different was nominated as best documentary. We're normally different is the first film from director Susanne Engels and was premiered during IDFA 2006. The film was also shown at the Human Rights Film Festival in New Zealand, at the Emotion Pictures Filmfestival in Athens (Greece) at the Human Arts Film Festival in Australia, Normální festival in Prague and at Time-to-live Film Festival in St. Petersburg.
The film has been broadcasted by IKON on public television in The Netherlands in 2007.

Dionne, Fran, Bertus and Maurits are actors with a mental disability. In the documentary We’re normally different you get taken away into their recognizable, but also surprising emotional life. You’ll discover a world where boundaries between play and reality are fading and dreams and desires take central stage. Told in beautiful images, this is a warm, poetic and touching film that deeply penetrates the existence of people with a mental disability.
